Uh… so I ate a lot over Christmas, and gained a few kilos as a result. Actually, if I’m honest, despite my attempt to get fitter and healthier by exercising everyday, I’d already started gaining weight in October. I had to buy pants the next size up because the button of my work pants literally burst off.
It probably doesn’t help that hubby and I went on a (*ahem* unintentional) food safari across Sydney CBD in October… What began as a simple dinner with our cousins (with pork crackling at Essen on Broadway) became a feast at Anita Gelato at Central Park, followed with brunch at the Rocks the next morning, an amazing chorizo roll at Barangaroo and an Aqua S softserve (with the lot) as the finale.
If you follow me on Instagram you know I kinda just haven’t stopped eating. I tried to rationalise that ever since I started my daily exercise routine in August, my body was just extra hungry because of all the energy I was burning (ahahahahahahahha… Yeah… nah).
So let’s be honest; before the holiday season even began I was sporting a pretty decent food baby.
And that, my friends, is how a foodie can gain 7kgs in the first trimester of pregnancy with barely anyone questioning it.
Yep! That’s right! I have been busting to tell you… but admittedly the last 3 months have been a bit crazy. The first trimester of this second pregnancy was pretty rough, especially compared to my first experience; the exhaustion in the first few weeks was terrible! And morning sickness doesn’t discriminate…. it also doesn’t only happen in the morning… nor does it always go away come trimester 2. Those two things together made it pretty much impossible to get active; hence the weight gain. Plus there has been a lot happening at home that has kept me preoccupied (and able to keep our news on the down-low).
But we’re at 15 weeks now! And even though I look and feel about 25 weeks pregnant (my pregnancy craving has been burgers, so no surprises there) we are so stupidly excited (yes, even Mr 3!) and… well my belly is looking less like I ate too much and more like… well… a baby belly.
So if you see me posting random food posts at 1am, or if you notice me getting a bit hormonal in the next few months… consider it just part of the territory. Looking forward to sharing the next part of the journey with you. ❤
